THOUSAND HEARTS BY-THE-NUMBERS 2022, 10th ANNIVERSARY
  • Thousand Hearts 365 ‘wrapped’ up the whole package this year by completing a community service project on Saturday, May 7. We were asked by the City of Rockford to furnish volunteers to help a Rockford neighbor with a large lawn clean up. Twenty-two Rockford High School XC and Track student athletes and their coaches filled 2 large dumpsters and made a clean sweep of the property.  On Thursday, June 2, over 20 of the same students will spread mulch on 2 school forests for Rockford Schools.
  •  On Thousand Hearts Serve Day, Saturday, May 21, over 25 volunteers worked at the Ames-Florida-Stork House to spread 6 yards of mulch, weed, rake and beautify the entire grounds.
  • Thanks to the Rockford Lions, 42 free Diabetes A1c screenings were offered; 35 people were screened.
  • Over 60 people took advantage of free document shredding offered by Modrow Farmers Insurance.
  • At Elmwood Cemetery, 38 volunteers trimmed and carved around many headstones making certain that Elmwood looked its best for Memorial Day.
  • The Rockford Farmers Market made its season debut with 5 vendors setting up at Riverwood Covenant Church.
  • The Hair Gallery gave 7 free haircuts thanks to Lisa Rasmussen.
  • Dobo’s donated 4 dozen delicious Cinnamon Rolls.
  • The Greenfield flower pots at Central Park and City Hall were planted by 2 volunteers.
  • The Rockford flower pots were planted by 8 volunteers.
  • Four Rockford Ambassadors helped prep and serve 70 lunches.
  • The Community Gardens at Our Fathers Lutheran Church were filled with fresh compost by 6 volunteers.
  • Many eyeglasses and hearing aids were collected for the Rockford Lions.
  • Two Senior lawns were beautified by a team of 8 volunteers.
  • The Thousand Hearts Steering Committee made up of 8 loyal members plus 2 Ambassadors (Pastor Keith Robinson & Sheriff Sean Deringer) and 1 amazing photographer (Craig Boysen) plus the Project Managers made it all happen for the 10th year!
  • Thank you to these sponsors: Rockford Lions $1000, R-G Chamber of Commerce $250, Trent Shipley $300, Anonymous $200.
  • And…to ‘wrap’ it up on the back side: Thousand Hearts 365, in partnership with Masons Star Lodge #62, will build a dumpster enclosure for the RiverWorks Food Shelf – summer date TBD. Also 9 Thousand Hearts 365 volunteers, in July, will paint/refresh the mural painted on the side of ABC Printing in Rockford.
Additionally, Thousand Hearts 365 continues into its 10th year with Maple Hill Coffee and Donuts every Wednesday morning at 10:00. We share hosting duties with 8 to 10 residents at Hope Center or Hy-Vee.
